ABOUT ME
I am a student in the Master of Teaching (MT) Intermediate-Senior division with teachable in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. I hold a B. Sc Honours degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Guelph. Before my enrollment in the MT program, I have acquired Quality Control /Quality Assurance experience in the pharmaceutical industry for over five years. My deep understanding of Chemistry, Biology and Math has allowed me to tutor students at various grades with students from diverse backgrounds and take other educator roles in these subjects.
Outside of academics, I am an outgoing person who enjoys water sports, such as swimming and sailing. I have been a long-time member of both the Guelph sailing club and Oakville yacht squadron. During the months of May to late-September, I enjoy sailing at these clubs and being part of Regattas.
Additionally, I appreciate travelling, and the experiential value of learning that comes from travelling. For example, a few years ago, I visited Freiburg, Germany. During my visit, I heard about a gliding club (segelflugge) near the Black forest. To satisfy my curiosity, I arranged a day trip to this club and started talking to the people in the club. Before the gliding experience, I was chatting with the pilot, and she told me how gliders (airplanes without an engine) take advantage of rising columns of hot air. She said to look for large parking lots that attract the sun's heat, which lifts the surrounding air. As the warm air rises, this helps the glider to gain altitude allowing the plane to store potential energy. She said flying a glider is a dance between the potential and kinetic energy. If you understand these types of energies along with reading the air currents, you can stay up in the air for several hours at a time. My experience visiting this beautiful club has been a great learning opportunity that wouldn't be as interesting to learn the theory through a traditional classroom.
Furthermore, I firmly believe that experience helps us understand our environment on a deep level. As an educator, it's essential to be continually learning and growing as an individual to better aid the development of our students.
